Two weeks later...finally no pain med

I had the surgery two weeks ago, Monday. It wasn't until Tuesday, the other day that I finally was able to go without taking pain medicine. I'm surprised that it took that long to get past it.

I'm now doing physical therapy, start slowing but making progress. The Physical Trainer also happens to be the same PT that works with the Seattle Mariners. We have some interesting discussions about how the Mariners are doing, and what it's like working with the various ball players. Of course, anybody that has made it to that level is a professional, so hearing about their work ethic is really interesting.

Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be able to go back to my exercise routine. Need to stop eating the stuff that I've been eating though.

Knee Surgery - July

Well, it finally came to me having surgery. The pain was too much and the doctor says that he couldn't do anything more for me. Thus he thought surgery was the best for me.

I had surgery on Monday, not the best of experience. Coming out of the recovery, I had a lot of pain, which the nurse said was the most she ever saw in all her years.  They gave me pain medicine twice in my IV and one set of pills. When they thought it was time for me to go home and tried to move my leg, I screamed loud enough for the entire wing to hear me. They quickly changed the pain medicine. It took a while for the medicine to kick in and it was pretty intolerant, it wasn't until several hours later that the pain started to decrease. Eventually though, I was able to handle it.

It's been a couple of days now and I'm able to get to my feet, but depending upon how much medicine I take, it either bothers me or I'm sleepy. What a choice, huh!

Embedded is a couple of photographs of what they did. You can see what they cut out by looking at the clear areas verses the areas that are enflamed.
